I saw this great leadership quote from Shar McBee’s Joy of Leadership website. Everyone will need to influence someone in their life whether you are in sales or in government. Here are some simple tips:
1. Go Slow. Only slow progress endures. So control your ambition.
2. Be brief. People will only be receptive to you for a short time.Make your point. Then withdraw. Give them time to apply your ideas to their experience.
3. Let go. If you can let go when your moment of influence wanes, later you'll be able to influence them again.
